The speedster’s sensational bowling prowess on show during the T20 World Cup 2024 where emerged as the cut above the rest and picked 15 wickets from eight innings at an average of 8.26 and a record economy of 4.17. As a result, Bumrah was adjudged Player of the Tournament for guiding India to their first ICC Trophy after a long gap of 11 years.
The Ahmedabad-born cricketer made his IPL debut way back in 2013 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) shone in his first game itself as he scalped 3/32 in four overs including the prized wicket of Virat Kohli. However, it still took Bumrah, four seasons to become a regular mainstay in Mumbai as he played a key role in their Mumbai’s third title victory in 2017 by bowling crucial death overs in the final.
From there on, there was no looking back for Bumrah as he became the most lethal fast bowler in the world in international cricket in coming years and helped MI win back-to-back IPL trophies in the years 2019 (19 wickets) and 2020 (27 wickets). Bumrah also shone for MI in their disastrous season in 2024 where he scalped 20 wickets from 13 matches. In his IPL career so far, Bumrah has scalped 165 wickets from 133 matches at an average of 22.51 and an economy of 7.30.
